Hip Dysplasia (HD)

Hip Dysplasia is a terrible genetic disease because of the various degrees or arthritis (also called degenerative joint disease, arthosois, osteoarthrosis) it can eventually produce, leading to pain and debilitation.

Screening for HD can be done by x-ray and then giving a grading by a specialist Veterinarian.  If you are told a dog has "passed" its hip scores that is incorrect, the dog should have a grading i.e. Excellent, Good, Fair and so on.
